2007 has been a very eventful year in the Costs Draftsmen calendar. We saw the introduction of Costs Lawyers, where a Fellow of the ALCD was given “Rights of Audience” certainly an added benefit to Clients especially as the ALCD has long been a benchmark of excellence within the Legal Costs market.
The recruitment market, renowned for being a candidate driven market fluctuated throughout the year especially with the oncoming Carter Report and its reforms to publicly funded work.

Legal Finance Salary Survey
2007 has been a busy year again within the Legal Finance market with many clients having a short supply of quality candidates for their vacancies. The end of 2006 and early 2007 saw record volumes of legal finance recruitment as demand surged for experienced Legal Cashiers and Legal Billers.
Many Clients lost valued staff, as US law firms enticed experienced candidates with higher than market salaries, leaving a major skills gap across the legal finance market and firms struggled to fill their vacancies. The March/April salary reviews of 2007 saw London law firms offering current employees higher salaries to stabilise their departments and keep their experienced staff.
